DIN Surrender

Cancel a DIN that is no longer needed.

About DIN Surrender

A Director Identification Number (DIN) can be surrendered when it is no longer required — for example, if a person was allotted a DIN but never became a director, holds a duplicate DIN, or the director has passed away or been declared of unsound mind. Surrender is done by filing Form DIR-5 with the MCA, supported by a declaration that the DIN has never been used to be appointed as a director in any company and is not associated with any active directorship. Surrendering an unused or duplicate DIN keeps your records clean and avoids ongoing DIR-3 KYC obligations and penalties on an idle DIN.
